BNN Breaking News: February 13th, 2021: In a long bloody battle, Friday night at the Valentine Massacre tourney of 2021, The U-ROG-Dog camp evened the 2021 series at one match each after holding on for a 15-13 victory. MacIntosh forced a final game after extinguishing the Crawford light. At Crawford-12.. Urogdy was cruising to a tourney victory when an errant double-5 opened a pip while bearing off, allowing MacIntosh a hit and eventually sealing the deal and forcing a final game.
After the match, Urogdy was asked why they didn't bring in a closer right before the 5-5. It should be noted that directly before the roll, MacIntosh had just splashed a fresh shot of espresso in Urogdy's face, taunting him about why he doesn't close his own games. There is speculation if Molly's coffee housing strategy affected the decision-making in the Urogdy orbit.
Urogdy said, "I thought the tourney was in the bag and the starter could go all the way. The energy of my dice were hot.. Unfortunately too hot when it counted." But sources in the locker room (hiding behind the Towels & Tits sandwich board), reported that Smooth Larry (Urogdys long time closer) hadn't been replaced yet and JohnnyU has been parading applicants through the front offices since the abrupt resignation of Smooth Larry back in late January. The Backgammon News Network also reported Urogdy's irritation in the Crawford game regarding Dub-5s. After opening an inner-board blot with the 5s, and being hit.... Urogdy rolled two additional sets of Double 5s as the pips were being beared off. Not nearly enough to make it a close race. "The 5s taunted me. It was difficult to contain my emotions as I had to prepare for a final game"
Urogdy went on to tell BNN reporters "that although we are celebrating an important victory tonight, every game was a battle and each tourney against Molly Mac is a tough one".
When Macintosh was asked about the match, she quipped, "he was right, 6-3 wasn't gonna do it tonight... overall we were happy with our play.. in the early stages, we were rolling well and jumped out to a lead. The sheen on Urogdy's forehead told the story of anixety emulating from my opponent' corner... and the towel-boy was no where to be seen", she laughed, "The tourney could have been anyone's win.. we came up a roll short" Analysts point to an early Mac fat finger and later a missed opportunity on a rare Urogdy fat finger as potential moments where games could have been altered in Macs favor.
Sources close to both camps believe there will be a new match scheduled within the next few days.
