Singer, Harry Belafonte has passed away at 96

Singer, Actor, and activist Harry Belafonte has passed away at 96. The "King of Calypso.", who popularized the calypso genre and famously sang "The Banana Boat Song" will be missed by fans across the world.

Harry Belafonte, the effortlessly graceful singer credited with popularizing calypso in the U.S. in the 1950s who then marched at the forefront of the country’s civil rights struggle for half a century, died Tuesday, of congestive heart failure at his home in New York City.

Belafonte’s legacy as an arresting, charismatic singer and actor, which was sealed with the release of the landmark album “Calypso” in 1956, spanned more than six decades.

Jack the Reaper will collect the Death Benefit of $161.30 in Dead pool 420, as our active Reapers pay a $10 tribute to honor Harry's life.

This is the first Benefit collected by Jack the Reaper.
