When a Mark passes into the next realm and becomes a Soul, we pause. We remember, and we often celebrate the life that was lived. Each of us does this in our own way. Each mortal that passes through the earthly plane has changed our world in some manner. We hope, most often, for good.
As Reapers, we wish not for death, but we do have a keen understanding that death is natural. We embrace these special moments to reflect on those who do pass before us as we reflect on our own lives and mortality. We pay Tribute.
In Dead Pool 420, a fee of $10 is offered by all active Reapers each time a Mark passes. June Brown, may she rest in peace, was the first. The Tribute not only honors her, but also is used to re-fund our pool after the Death Benefit has been paid. (Similar to a life-insurance premium.)
If a Reaper has less than $10 in their account when a mark passes, they become "Inactive" and may no longer collect a Death Benefit until the Tribute is paid. This is why all Reapers are encouraged to keep a balance of at least $20 in their account at all times.
There are some that believe that death comes to us in threes. Even one day being "Inactive" could be costly. It would be unfortunate for a Reaper to lose a Mark while "Inactive."
Our pool is designed that after a Mark passes, if everyone continues to remain active, the next Death Benefit should increase slightly. This is the case today.
Soul Keeper was awarded $204.75. As of this moment, with only one player becoming "Inactive", the next Death Benefit is $207.56
The Active pool now stands at $830.25

Today I leave you with the lyrics of Memories by Maroon 5
"Memories" << Listen Here
Here's to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you
There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain
When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same
Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name
'Cause I can't reach out to call you, but I know I will one day, yeah
Everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody hurts someday, ayy-ayy
But everything gon' be alright
Go and raise a glass and say, ayy
